RV Electrical System Repair

Shore power, battery banks, converters, inverters, generators, and every 12-volt circuit between them. Our technicians diagnose and repair the full RV electrical system.

Electrical issues are the most common reason an RV gets stranded — and the hardest to diagnose without the right tools. At Post's Traveland USA in Columbus, Ohio, our technicians chase down shorts, swap converters, rebuild battery banks, service generators, and rewire circuits the right way the first time.

Don't Replace What Just Needs Repair

Before we recommend a new converter or a full battery bank, we test. An underperforming battery might actually be fine — the real problem could be a failing converter or a parasitic draw somewhere in the 12V circuit. A dead outlet might not be a bad receptacle at all; it could be a tripped GFCI two cabinets over or a worn-out shore cord.

We use meters, clamps, and load testers to find the actual fault before you spend money on parts you don't need. Every diagnosis comes with a clear written estimate that tells you what needs repair, what needs replacement, and why.

How Power Moves Through Your RV

Every RV runs on two systems — 120V AC shore power and 12V DC battery power — linked by a converter, a battery bank, and an inverter. We service every node in the chain.

  1. 120V AC · Input

    Shore & Generator

30A and 50A hookups, shore cords, and onboard generators — we repair, rewire, and replace.

  2. AC → DC

    Converter

Charges the battery bank and runs 12V systems while you're plugged in.

  3. 12V DC · Storage

    Battery Bank

Lead-acid, AGM, and lithium house batteries. Load testing, replacement, full rebuilds.

  4. DC → AC

    Inverter

Runs 120V outlets from the batteries when you're off-grid. Pure-sine installs, too.

Lithium Upgrades, Solar, and Modern Systems

Many Central Ohio owners are moving to lithium house batteries, solar roof panels, and modern pure-sine inverters — and the older components already in the RV often weren't designed to play nicely with them. Mismatched converters, undersized wiring, and factory charge profiles can turn a premium upgrade into a warranty problem.

We handle lithium conversions, solar charge controller installs, inverter/charger upgrades, and whole-system audits to make sure your new components and your existing wiring get along.
